Easter weekend

We had a fun Easter weekend this year. Liz and Adam came over on Friday night and we kicked it off with a fondue (Jeff's fondue has been perfected and it never disappoints!) with Allie and her fiance, Joe. Joe was kind enough to bring presents for the kids, but our ungrateful children didn't properly appreciate them. Little miss didn't play with the stuffed zoo animals (I think she was more interested in seeing what Ian got) and instead played with Ian's talking globe:

(Yes, that shiny stuff on her face is snot. No matter how much you wipe, they just keep making more.)

On Saturday, we hung out at home and decorated Easter eggs and watched dinosaur DVDs. Here are the four kids on the couch:


We had guacamole and turkey tacos for dinner and the kids enjoyed the guac. Here's Lia playing with guacamole on Yu-an Yi's lap (Ian is having a serious conversation with Uncle Adam in the background):

Lia started playing a new game with Yu-an Yi called "Let Me Throw Myself Off Her Lap Repeatedly".


On Sunday, Grandpa, Abuelita, Tia Cindy, Tio Dennis and Dylan came over for brunch/lunch, an Easter egg hunt and Easter dinner. It was COLD! But luckily, it was sunny. Which meant that Lia couldn't wear the beautiful red dress Tia had bought for her, but she did get to wear her funky zebra striped jumper with the sassy hot pink lining from Jiu Ma!

Lia played ring around the rosy with Dylan, Abuelita and Tia. She's not great at following directions:


Then she tried to give Dylan a hug. Let this be a lesson to anyone with a toddler -- hugging, though well-intentioned, may cause crying.


I forgot to mention that Lia has some sort of "thing" about walking on grass. It happened at the park that one nice day we had. She stayed on the paved areas and when she would accidentally stray onto the grass, she would quickly get back on the pavement. It was a bit muddy that day, so I thought maybe that was it. But when we put her on the grass to start looking for eggs, it was like her legs were stuck to the ground and she couldn't move them.

From 2009-04-12 Easter Sunday

After Liz and Adam each took a hand, she was willing to walk, but it took some coaxing. Then she was such a princess. The eggs had to be directly in front of her or she wouldn't pick them up. If the egg was slightly under a bush, she would point to it and expect Abuelita or Grandpa or whoever was nearby to pick it up.


Despite a few tears and mishaps, the kids had a great time looking for their eggs and playing together!
