Some new developments

First of all, Lia peed in her potty for the first time last week. YAY! She hasn't done so since. BOO! But did tell me when she had to go potty while we were at the beach and even sat on the big potty twice. YAY! But she didn't actually go. BOO!

Second, Lia now says, "NIIIII!" (translation: "NICE!"). She put a star-shaped Play-Doh cookie cutter on her wrist Sunday evening and we heard her yell from across the room, "NIIIII!" as she ran toward us holding up her hand. We admired and flattered her for a while. She preened and strutted, saying "NIIII!" and "WOW!" at the top of her lungs. Then Ian ran over and grabbed it off her and said, "That's not how you're supposed to play with it!" Much screaming ensued.

Third, we went out to dinner last night for Grandpa's birthday sans children. Lili drove the kids home and fed them and put them to bed. Well, Lili said she put Lia down, but she wasn't asleep, so she started crying and screaming. Lili left and shut the door to see if Lia would calm down and fall asleep on her own. Lili went downstairs to check on Ian and had the monitor on for Lia. She could hear Lia screaming for Mommy and Daddy, and then she heard "uh oh" and "ow" and continued crying/screaming. After about 10 minutes, she went to check on her. She said the room was pretty dark and she opened the door and had a heart attack. She saw a hairy little thing sitting on the glider chair, crying. She said it was like something out of "The Grudge". Lili had forgotten to pull up the side of the crib. It wasn't a big deal before because she has never tried to climb out and we've left it down sometimes. Somehow, Lia had climbed out of her crib without making a big thud as she landed. Her two doggie blankies were nowhere to be found. I found them this morning when I went in. Lia had thrown them into her hamper.

And finally, Jeff gave Lia the abacus to play with this morning as he brushed her hair. Ian came over and moved two of the beads. Lia yelled, "NOOOOOO! MINE!" Another new word in her vocabulary. Sigh.
