Lia at the beach

Lia does not like touching the sand. Or having the sand touch her. Anywhere. Which is difficult when you're at the beach. However, she managed to have a great time the two times we went this summer anyway (once at the end of July and once at the end of August). Mostly, she harassed young Sebastian (he was about 4 months old at the time), who is too young to defend himself from her affections.

Lia and I were usually the first ones up in the morning, and then joined shortly thereafter by Ian. So Lia got to explore the deck and the boardwalk by herself in the mornings. She liked it when I would carry her up to the dunes, but if I went past the dunes towards the ocean, she started to panic. The ocean was very rough both times and the noise and the sight of the waves were scary. Whenever Jeff and Ian went into the water, she would reach out her hand and desperately cry, "Daddy! Ge Ge!"

She liked sitting in the hammock:

She always tried to open the door in the morning to get out onto the deck:

She and Ian would play in a pile of big pillows or she would harass Sebastian while he was nursing or laying on his playmat.

Or she would run around on the deck:

Our second trip out, she had other girls to hang out with, Samantha and Madison. Samantha was about 3 and a half at the time and Madison is 3 months younger than Lia.

She loved her Uncle Francis because he held her and danced with her. She liked walking up and down the length of the boardwalk.

And she continued to harass Sebastian:

She kept us on our toes!
